In a sh0cking case of domestic violence, a 42-year-old man from Zimbabwe’s Nkayi District has been arrested along with his second wife and nephew for the brutal murder of his first wife last year.
According to police reports, Honored Ncube had asked his first wife Memory Sibanda to keep ZAR 10,000 and USD 100 safe for him. However, when he asked for the money back later she could not account for it all, angering Ncube. In a fit of rage, Ncube allegedly attacked his wife violently along with his 22-year-old second wife Priscilla Moyo and 24-year-old nephew Mthokozisi Nkala, hitting her with an axe handle, knobkerrie and a log.
Sibanda died from her injuries and the three allegedly buried her body in a shallow grave in a nearby field to cover up their crime. However, police received a tip-off and were able to arrest the suspects and exhume Sibanda’s body last week. The body has been taken for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
This tragic case highlights the potential dangers of disputes over money leading to domestic violence. Police have also warned the public to seek assistance from third parties during family challenges to avoid violence. Inspector Glory Banda said “the long arm of the law will always catch up with those who resort to crime and violence.”
The three accused have been arrested and remain in custody as police investigations continue.
