FIVE people tragically lost their lives in two separate road accidents that occurred on the same day in Zimbabwe.
In the first crash, a Toyota Granvia minibus carrying 11 people veered off the road and turned over on its side along the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway. Four people died instantly at the scene of the accident, while the other seven passengers were injured and transported to Beitbridge District Hospital.
The bodies of the four victims were taken to the hospital morgue for autopsies to be performed. Police are investigating the cause of the accident but did not provide any further details.
In a second, unrelated accident, one person died and two others were injured when a Toyota Hiace also overturned twice before coming to rest on its right side in Marondera.
The body of the deceased was transported to the morgue at Marondera Provincial Hospital, while the two injured individuals were admitted to the same hospital for treatment. Police are examining this accident as well, but did not disclose what may have led to the crash.
