Livanary Mazangwira faces domestic violence charges for assaulting his estranged wife Isabel Tafirenyika. The altercation started when Tafirenyika refused to cook Mazangwira’s favourite dish of sadza and eggs, despite his demand through their son.
Upon Mazangwira confronting her, he slapped Tafirenyika on the cheek and shouted at her. Later that night, Mazangwira went to Tafirenyika’s home, forced open her bedr00m door, and grabbed her neck threatening to kill her.
Tafirenyika managed to escape and reported the matter to the police, resulting in Mazangwira’s arrest. In court, Mazangwira pleaded not guilty to the physical abuse charge under the Domestic Violence Act. He was released on remand until his trial.
Tafirenyika sustained a painful neck injury from the assault and required hospital treatment.
