A sh0cking footage has emerged of a church brawl that broke out during a Sunday service at St John’s Apostolic Faith Mission in Bulawayo.
The video depicts scenes of chaos as congregants come to blows, shoving and insulting each other. A woman is seen screaming at members as they grapple violently on the ground.
Bishop Vengayi Tapfuma unsuccessfully tried to quell the violence, but was roughly pushed to the floor. Terrified members then fled the church as the fight escalated.
A church source said the brawl started due discontent over Tapfuma’s “lack of transparency” and mismanagement of church funds.
Members allegedly accused Tapfuma of arbitrarily appointing church positions without consulting the church council. His son Tapfuma Jr is also accused of running a private school on church premises without properly accounting for the funds.
The source said, “His son Tapfuma Jr is using the church’s premises to run a private school… there is, however, no transparency in the use of those funds paid by the students.”
The sh0cking church violence comes just months after Tapfuma was publicly humiliated by his junior pastor Edmore Mangombe, who regularly told him to “shut up and stop lying” during sermons.
The footage of Sunday’s violent church service – which shows congregants brawling like nightclub patrons – has now gone viral, highlighting deep divisions and mismanagement that threaten to tear the church apart.
