MADZIBABA Moses, from the Johanne Masowe yeChishanu, and his team, were attacked by two armed men who found them praying for people in Warren Park on Tuesday.
Madzibaba Moses, real name Lloyd Gwasira, was driving one of his luxurious vehicles, in a convoy with his church-mates, when Tafadzwa Matoro, 37, and Elvis Borerwi, 39, confronted him.
The two accused Madzibaba Moses of bewitching one of their relatives.
Tafadzwa produced a gun.
The two were bashed by Madzibaba Moses’ aides before police were called to the scene.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest and dismissed reports circulating on social media that the two were members of security agencies.
“Police arrested two men in connection with an attack on members of a church, who were on a prayer mission in Warren Park,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.
“Tafadzwa produced a gun registered under a company he works for located in Borrowdale, threatening one Madzibaba Moses, accusing him of bewitching one of his relatives
“The other accused person, Elvis, works at a company located along Willowvale Road.
“The two are not members of any security agency as alleged in a video circulating on social media,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.
Madzibaba Moses told H-Metro that he knew both Tafadzwa and Elvis and that their attack was deliberate.
“I know the two very well and they were targeting me for reasons I am yet to know,” said Madzibaba Moses.
“We took the matter to the police and it is my prayer that justice takes its course,” he said.
