Two suspected murderers had to be rushed to hospital after an angry mob bashed them over the killing of a teen boy in Delmas, Mpumalanga.
Police rescued the two men from the mob after the body of 19-year-old Sibongiseni Sithole was found with head injuries and stab wounds.
Villagers alerted Sithole’s grandfather about his grandson’s body inside an RDP house. Police were called to the scene where paramedics declared Sithole dead.
Police opened a murder case after discovering that Sithole had sustained head injuries and stab wounds.
After leaving the crime scene, police received calls about an angry mob assaulting two suspects. Police struggled to rescue the victims, needing help from some community members.
A 25-year-old suspect sustained serious injuries during the mob attack. The other suspect, 28, suffered minor injuries.
A house belonging to one of the suspects was torched during the mob assault, with police allegedly seeing blood stains and substances suspected to be traditional medicines.
The two suspects were consequently rushed to hospital for treatment after being bashed by the mob for allegedly killing Sithole. They are expected to appear in court soon.
