Dynamos Football Club captain Frank Makarati and teammate Tendai Magwaza were involved in a car accident on Monday night, but thankfully escaped with minor injuries.

The pair was returning home to Chitungwiza after competing in the CAF Confederation Cup in Botswana when they were involved in car accident with their white Ford Ranger. It appears as if the footballers hit a street light and rolled before landing on its left side.

The accident occurred at around 11 pm, with both players sustaining minor injuries. Their vehicle, a Ford Ranger, was travelling along a road in Chitungwiza when it collided with another vehicle.

Makarati and Magwaza were immediately taken to Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Waterfalls for observation. X-rays were taken to assess the extent of their injuries, but thankfully, no serious injuries were found.

The two were discharged from the hospital this morning and are now receiving treatment at home.

“They were discharged this morning and are now receiving treatment at home,” confirmed Dynamos vice chairman Clemence Chimbari.

The accident has understandably shaken the Dynamos camp, but the club is relieved that both players are recovering well.

The incident comes at a time when Dynamos are preparing for their upcoming Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Chicken Inn. The match, initially scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed to allow the team to recover from their Confederation Cup encounter against Orapa United in Francistown, Botswana.

The postponement will provide Dembare players with valuable rest time before resuming league action.

The accident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of the road, and the importance of safe driving practices. We wish Makarati and Magwaza a speedy recovery and hope they will be back on the pitch soon.

The postponement of the Dynamos match against Chicken Inn will also provide the team with a much-needed break. The Harare giants have been on a busy schedule in recent weeks, with their Confederation Cup commitments adding to the pressure.

The postponement will allow the team to regroup and refocus ahead of their upcoming league fixtures.
