Next month, the family of Senzo Meyiwa will be commemorating 10 years since the passing of the former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper. Meyiwa was shot dead at the house of his baby mama and Afro-pop songstress, Kelly Khumalo, on 26 October 2014.
The tragic event plunged the nation into mourning, leaving behind a grieving family and a heartbroken nation. But while the wounds of that night may still be raw for some, Senzo Meyiwa’s widow, Mandisa Mkhize, has clearly moved on with her life.
Mandisa Mkhize – who wed Senzo Meyiwa in 2013 – has clearly moved on with her life, if her Instagram account is anything to go by. She regularly posts pics of her socialising with friends, enjoying tropical holidays, and wearing designer clothes. According to a local blog, Mandisa owns several luxury cars, including a VW Golf GTI, a BMW, and a Mercedes Benz GLE.
Mandisa and Senzo are also the parents to daughter Nana Meyiwa – one of the soccer star’s four known children. Nana was just a toddler when her father was allegedly murdered. Today, the young girl is a trendy teenager who is her father’s double. Nana shares a half-sister in Kelly Khumalo’s daughter Thingo. The pair reportedly inherited their share of R4 million from their father’s PSL life policy.
ZiMoja has reported that Mandisa is preparing for her nuptials with her new man. According to a source, Mandisa has been dating the same guy for a while now and they are ready to take things to the new level.
“Mandisa will be getting married soon. She has a new partner and our family has given her the blessings to have a new husband,” said a source close to the Meyiwas.
The source added that Senzo’s mom has also made it clear that they will attend Mandisa’s wedding ceremony.
“She still calls Mandisa her Makoti (bride). She feels let down that Senzo found love elsewhere just before their white wedding. Senzo had paid the full lobola for Mandisa. He even did umembeso for Mandisa’s family. Senzo’s mother has given Mandisa her full blessings to move on,” the source said.
Asked for comment, Mandisa said she doesn’t want to share her private life in the media. “I would rather not talk about that,” she said.
BYGONES BE BYGONES?
Although Mandisa Mkhize claims she has “forgiven” her late husband for her affair with Kelly Khumalo, it hasn’t always been that way.
She said during her testimony of the incident: “Mandisa kept saying ‘you have killed him,’ and we separated them”.
She added: “I told Mandisa that this was not the time.”
A year earlier, Kelly and Zandie were both arrested on charges of assaulting Mandisa. According to IOL, the incident occurred on the side of the road of the M1 South highway.
