Mutare – Fear has gripped students at Mutare Teachers’ College and residents of Sakubva following a brazen rape and robbery committed by a naked man with a lengthy manhood who remains at large. The horrifying incident has left the community on edge, with students who live off-campus particularly vulnerable.
The Manicaland Provincial Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the disturbing details of the crime, which occurred on the night of March 29th. According to police reports, the assailant targeted two female students renting accommodation in Chinyausunzi, Sakubva.
“On March 29th at around 11:30 PM, two female students (whose names we have) were asleep in their bedroom when they were awakened by an unknown man. He was naked, wearing a grey monkey hat that covered his face, and he was armed with a knife,” Asst Insp Chinyoka stated.
The naked intruder, his face concealed by a balaclava, reportedly threatened the terrified students with the knife. “The man threatened the complainants with the knife, warning them not to scream, saying he wanted money and other valuables from them,” the police spokesperson explained.
After robbing the students, the situation took a sinister turn. The assailant ordered the two women to remove their underwear and lie down. The big manhood-wielding naked man then proceeded to rape one of the students, without using any protection, before fleeing into the darkness.
Adding a bizarre twist to the crime, the rapist was bleeding as he made his escape. The reason for the bleeding remains unknown, but police discovered a trail of blood stretching seventy meters from the scene.
“Upon arrival, Sakubva police, accompanied by members of the canine unit, observed blood on the floor, blankets, and clothes of one of the complainants,” Asst Insp Chinyoka said. “There was a blood trail stretching approximately 70 meters from the scene, which led investigators to suspect that the man may have injured himself while committing the crime.”
The two victims, after the attacker had fled, realised that their door had been forced open. They immediately alerted their neighbour, who then informed other members of the community, who in turn reported the incident to the police.
The police are currently investigating the case, utilising the canine unit to track the suspect. The presence of blood at the scene has raised hopes that forensic evidence may help to identify the perpetrator.
The incident has left students living off-campus in a state of constant anxiety. The fear of becoming the next target of this brazen attacker is palpable. Residents are urging the police to intensify their efforts to apprehend the suspect and restore a sense of security to the community.
