Harare – Expelled Zanu PF Central Committee member and militant war veteran Blessed Geza has reignited political tensions in Zimbabwe with a series of explosive allegations against President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration. Geza, who disappeared after previous press briefings that led to the arrest of journalist Blessed Mhlanga, has resurfaced, accusing Mnangagwa of attempting to poison Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, engaging in widespread corruption, and betraying the principles of the liberation struggle.

Geza’s reappearance comes on the heels of a thinly veiled attack on Chiwenga by Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, who labelled the former military boss uneducated and cruel, branding him unfit to succeed Mnangagwa as President.

Clad in visibly new military garb, Geza warned Mnangagwa that his time in office is up, reminding him of the support he received from Chiwenga during the 2017 military coup that ousted the late President Robert Mugabe. Mnangagwa’s expulsion as Vice President on November 6, 2017, was the spark that ignited “Operation Restore Legacy,” led by General Chiwenga.

“You poisoned General Chiwenga, who assisted you when you had run away. Mugabe wanted to give power to Chiwenga, but he refused. But today you are going after Chiwenga. Are you sure? What exactly did you do during the liberation struggle?” fumed Geza.

Geza alleges that Mnangagwa was involved in Chiwenga’s poisoning, referring to the VP’s medical treatment in China in 2020. “Mnangagwa was 100 per cent involved in the poisoning of General Chiwenga. I have the evidence from his brother, called Joseph Rera. When Mnangagwa was asked by Rera how General Chiwenga was coping with his health while in China, Mnangagwa, you said Chiwenga was a goner, and that he would return to Zimbabwe in a coffin,” Geza claimed.

He further alleged that Mnangagwa had a hand in the deaths of scores of military generals, especially during the Covid-19 era.

Geza Declares ‘Mega Demonstration,’ Accuses Top Officials of Corruption

Undeterred by his expulsion from Zanu PF and facing multiple criminal charges, Geza has called for a “mega demonstration” in the coming weeks. He urged citizens to prepare for what he describes as one of the largest and most significant protests in recent history, aiming to send a clear message against the current administration’s alleged misconduct.

In a latest video, Geza wearing military camouflage accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa, ZANU-PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa, and Senate President Mabel Chinomona of engaging in large-scale corruption and ganging up on Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. He further called for nationwide protests to demand accountability and systemic change.

Geza, a former ZANU-PF Central Committee member, has become increasingly vocal in his criticism of the current administration. His latest accusations implicate some of the highest-ranking officials in the government, alleging their involvement in corrupt activities that have severely impacted the nation’s economy and governance.

In response to Geza’s outspoken stance, the ZANU-PF Politburo recently expelled him from the party. Patrick Chinamasa, the party’s Secretary for Legal Affairs, announced the expulsion, citing Geza’s persistent calls for President Mnangagwa’s removal as the primary reason for this decisive action.

ZRP Declares Geza a Person of Interest

In February 2025, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) declared Geza a person of interest, linking him to multiple charges, including inciting public violence, insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and illegally acquiring and disposing of three vehicles.

Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi warned that anyone assisting Geza in evading arrest would face legal consequences.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is seeking information on the whereabouts of Blessed Geza Runesu, alias Bombshell, for questioning in connection with four criminal charges. The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that anyone aiding or abetting the suspect in evading arrest will be equally liable,” the statement reads.

Geza is accused of violating Section 113 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9:23) by stealing and selling three vehicles without the owner’s consent. He also faces two counts of undermining presidential authority under Section 33 (2)(a)(ii) of the same Act and one count of incitement to commit public violence under Section 187.

Geza Taunts Mnangagwa, Warns Mutsvangwa

Geza further challenged Mnangagwa to arrest him, saying that the Zanu PF figurehead knows his whereabouts.

“I am very safe and in buzzing good health. Mnangagwa knows where I am.”

Relentless Geza also laid into Christopher Mutsvangwa, warning that he should zip up, otherwise, he will open a can of worms, revealing secrets that would expose him as an anti-revolutionary during the liberation struggle.

Geza Opens New Social Media Account

After weeks of silence, Geza reappeared on social media, sharing a video on his official X (Twitter) account @BlessedGeza which attracted over 30,000 followers within 24 hours. Clad in military camouflage and speaking from an undisclosed location, he confirmed that he would now be using this new account for official communication.

“This is my official Twitter account which I will be using to communicate with you starting today. Ndo official Twitter account yangu yandichishandisa kutaura nemi kana ku communicator nemi kutangisa nhasi.”

Captioning the video, Geza hinted at a major announcement in the coming hours.

“Fellow Zimbabweans, I will use this platform to communicate with you. I am going to make an announcement in the next few hours. I will post the YouTube link here. May God bless you All,” Geza writes.

Geza Demands Mnangagwa’s Resignation

In a bombshell, militant and vocal war veterans leader Blessed Geza – whose nickname in coincidentally “Bombshell” – has demanded angrily and emotionally that President Emmerson Mnangagwa must urgently resign or face a messy political endgame, urging a street mass uprising against him on 31 March 2025.

Threatening fire and brimstone against Mnangagwa and his political and business allies, whom he said are corrupt, looting and destroying the country, Geza, who recently opened the floodgates against the President accusing him of nepotism, cronyism and incompetence, said the man nicknamed “Crocodile” must go now or face a disastrous ending.

In an ominous message, Geza accused Mnangagwa of a series of crimes, ranging from being an impostor, spy and sellout during the 1970s liberation struggle, to corruption and running a kakistocracy (governance by the least suitable and capable), and a kleptocrcacy; rule by thieves involving a network of family, business and political allies.

Geza accused Mnangagwa of being involved in trying to kill Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga through poisoning, a sore point in the succession battle.

He said war veterans are willing to die for Chiwenga whom he defended over recent attacks by Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa, a Mnangagwa ally.

Mutsvangwa described Chiwenga as illiterate, incompetent and a dubious liberation struggle commander.

Delving deep into history, contemporary politics and sleazy family issues, including relationships, while swearing at his enemies, Geza said he will expose a whole lot of things soon and deal with those targeted.

The sleazy issues featured Mnangagwa’s wife, First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, Attorney-General Virginia Mabiza and the President, Mutsvangwa’s wife Monica, who is Women Affairs minister, and Chiwenga’s former wife Marry.

This came as political tensions and infighting over Zanu PF’s succession battle between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga intensified amid looming open confrontation.

Geza sternly warned police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba, a staunch ally of the President, not to deploy police to try to stop anti-Mnangagwa protestors on 31 March.

He said police and the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) should not fight the people, while defending Mnangagwa who is vulnerable without the support of security forces.

Army’s Role Unclear, Potential Rift Between Army and Police

Geza did not mention the role of the army, Zimbabwe’s political power brokers and kingmakers, in the looming conflict, suggesting it was on his faction’s side. Chiwenga’s faction is military-backed.

He however complained that the army was starving and there was corruption in its tender supplies run by Mnangagwa’s corrupt networks.

This all comes as Chiwenga’s military-backed Zanu PF faction moves to mobilise and leverage mounting social discontent and popular pressure to remove Mnangagwa who first came to power through a coup in November 2017 before legitimising himself through disputed elections.

The situation has further intensified with reports suggesting a rift between the army and police forces. Unconfirmed sources indicate that Geza may be receiving protection from military factions sympathetic to Vice President Chiwenga, highlighting potential divisions within the nation’s security apparatus.

Sources allege that Geza was housed at KG6 Barracks (now Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks) before being whisked to South Africa by the military. However, in his State of the nation address, Blessed Geza claims that President Mnangagwa really knows where he (Geza) is.

“Mnangagwa knows where I am. Kungoti hake igwara anotya kundi approacher, but pandiri chaipo chaipo anopaziva. Ini ndirimukati mevanhu, ndirikuprotectwa nevanhu nokuda kwekuti tinoita zvido zvevanhu,” he alleges in his video.

As Zimbabwe approaches the planned “mega demonstration,” the nation watches with bated breath, uncertain of what the coming weeks hold. Geza’s accusations and calls for Mnangagwa’s removal have deepened existing political fissures and raised questions about the stability of the government. The potential for conflict between different factions within the security forces adds another layer of complexity to an already volatile situation.

Geza spoke about the state of the economy, Mnangagwa and his family, administrative and business cronies, political allies, corruption, the judiciary, tenders, corruption, plundering, the People’s Own Savings Bank saga, political and civil liberties, democratic rights, the arrest of journalist Blessed Mhlanga and elite relationships, among many other things, menacingly warning an unstoppable political wave is looming.
