Mvurwi – A motorist in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central, was targeted by a three-man robbery gang this Friday, who smashed the vehicle’s windshield and made off with a handbag containing a substantial US$14,100. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

ZRP national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, provided details of the crime, stating: “The ZRP is investigating a case of robbery which occurred in Mvurwi on March 14, 2025.”

According to police reports, the incident unfolded along GMB Road near Mbizi location Turn-off in Mvurwi. The victim, who was driving a Honda Fit Hybrid vehicle, was intercepted by the three suspects travelling in a black Toyota Probox.

“Three suspects who were travelling in a black Toyota Probox vehicle, intercepted the complainant who was travelling in a Honda Fit Hybrid vehicle along GMB Road near Mbizi location Turn-off, Mvurwi,” Commissioner Nyathi explained.

The robbers employed a violent tactic, smashing the windshield of the complainant’s vehicle before seizing a handbag containing the significant sum of US$14,100 in cash. In addition to the cash, the handbag also contained an Ecocash Debit Card and an Innbucks Visa card, further compounding the victim’s losses.

The ZRP is appealing to members of the public who may have any information that could assist in the apprehension of the suspects to come forward and report it to their nearest police station. Any detail, no matter how small, could prove crucial in solving this case and bringing the culprits to justice.

“ZRP appealed to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report at any nearest police station,” Commissioner Nyathi urged.
