Hwange – A 24-year-old man from Lwendulu village, Hwange, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for aggravated unlawful entry and indecent assault after breaking into a woman’s bedroom completely naked. Marshal Comfort Nyathi’s bizarre actions landed him in hot water with the law, culminating in his conviction by a Hwange magistrate.
The court heard that Nyathi committed the offence in the early hours of March 4, 2025. According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the victim had secured her home, ensuring all windows and doors were locked, before retiring to bed around 9PM on March 3, 2025.
“The offender gained entry to her bedroom at approximately 1:40 AM by opening a window, placing a brick underneath it, and climbing through,” the NPA stated on its X (formerly Twitter) handle. “He entered the room naked. The woman was awakened as the man was attempting to pull down her shorts.”
The situation took an even stranger turn when Nyathi, upon being discovered, apologised and identified himself, professing his love for the startled woman.
“The man apologised and identified himself, professing his love for her,” the NPA confirmed.
The victim, displaying remarkable composure, pretended to remain calm and switched on a light, managing to capture a photograph of the naked intruder. Nyathi then attempted to flee through the window he had used to gain entry, but the woman bravely tried to stop him. He eventually managed to escape after she alerted her mother to the unfolding situation.
Following Nyathi’s escape, the victim promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to his subsequent arrest and prosecution. The Hwange magistrate, after hearing the evidence presented, found Nyathi guilty of aggravated unlawful entry and indecent assault, resulting in the 18-month prison sentence.
