A Hatfield woman’s long and arduous battle against breast cancer has reached a critical juncture, with the devastating revelation that some of her relatives now appear to have given up hope, allegedly even wishing for her death.
Bharbra Matarutse, 44, has been bravely fighting breast cancer since 2016, relying heavily on the generosity of well-wishers to survive. However, her situation has become increasingly dire, with the cancer now spreading throughout her body and leaving her unable to afford even basic necessities.
Bharbra revealed the extent of her suffering, saying, “Mheno Mwari kuti richavharika here. I have a sister whom I pay to wipe the wound. Mari yacho ndeyekupemha and I can’t sit zvakanaka or sleep either. I am now being fed, kutoilet I now use diapers, so zvakaoma.”
The financial strain of her condition has become overwhelming, leaving her unable to settle her mounting medical bills. She is now in desperate need of approximately US$2000 to cover essential expenses, including the admission fee for hospital monitoring and a consultation with a surgeon to address a persistent wound.
“I am now in need of about US$2000, including the admission fee, because they will need to monitor the wound,” Bharbra explained. “I need to see a surgeon for that wound.”
Adding to her pain, Bharbra revealed the heartbreaking reality that some of her relatives appear to have lost faith in her survival.
“Yes, some of them are no longer supporting and they now wish me dead,” she said, her voice heavy with sorrow.
Despite the challenges and the lack of support from some quarters, Bharbra remains determined to fight for her life.
“I started experiencing this condition in 2016 and I need healing,” she said, clinging to hope.
She expressed her gratitude for the unwavering support she receives from close relatives and friends, acknowledging that their assistance is now more crucial than ever. “I am thankful for my close relatives and friends who support me. But it’s now hard for me,” she added.
