A Harare man, Shepherd Ngangarucheche, has approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against Simon Judah, whom he accuses of destroying his marriage. Ngangarucheche claims Judah had an affair with his wife and then eloped with her, leaving him devastated.
“I gave Judah notice to vacate my premises after suspecting he was having an affair with my wife,” Ngangarucheche told the court. “Not only did he leave my home, but he left with my wife. I have lost my marriage because of him; everything I worked for has fallen apart. He impregnated my wife despite knowing she was married to me.”
Ngangarucheche further alleges that Judah has been harassing him, following him everywhere he goes. “Whenever we meet, he starts insulting me, asking why I chased him from my home. Judah refuses to take responsibility for taking my wife; he threatens me constantly. I want peace of mind; he must stop threatening and insulting me,” he pleaded.
He continued, “As a man, I cannot tolerate seeing my wife’s lover; he must stay away from me. I am now afraid for my life, and he should respect me. When I allowed him to stay at my home, I never imagined he would steal my wife. Judah is also accusing me of bewitching his child.”
Judah did not deny the allegations of the affair and eloping with Ngangarucheche’s wife, but he promised to abide by the court’s ruling. “I will stop harassing him, but he should also stop interfering in my affairs. I never bewitched his child,” he stated.
Magistrate Meenal Naratom granted Ngangarucheche the protection order.
