A Chitungwiza woman, Vimbai Mivirimba (21), is at the centre of a domestic violence case currently before the courts.
She alleges that her husband, Prince Musariri (30), assaulted her after she discovered him and his younger brother unclothed in their living room in the early hours of the morning on 20 December last year.
The details of the incident, as presented to the court by Prosecutor Passmore Lorenzo, paint a picture of a shocking discovery. At approximately 3:45 am, Ms Mivirimba woke up to get a drink of water. Upon entering the kitchen, she allegedly saw her husband and his brother unclothed in the living room.
Ms Mivirimba’s own testimony, given in court, describes the subsequent events. “I saw them both unclothed and asked my husband, Prince Musariri, why he was unclothed in the living room,” she stated.
“He became angry, dragged me into the bedroom, and began to beat me all over my body. I was only rescued by his younger brother.” The intervention of the younger brother prevented further violence.
The case against Prince Musariri is proceeding under the Domestic Violence Act, Chapter 05:10. He is facing charges of domestic violence related to the alleged assault of his wife. Magistrate Karen Jeffery is presiding over the case.
The trial is ongoing, and the court will need to consider all evidence presented before reaching a verdict.
