A seemingly sex-starved Harare woman is facing serious charges of aggravated indecent assault after allegedly engaging in repeated sexual acts with a ten-year-old boy.
Fadzai Chimboza, who is reportedly married and is a devoted member of the ZCC church, appeared before Harare regional magistrate Tilda Mazhande on an unspecified date and was remanded in custody until 29 January. Because the charge is a third schedule offence, she was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
Chimboza’s connection to the victim adds a disturbing layer to the case. She is the granddaughter of the landlord of the house where the boy resides with his parents. The court heard that the abuse began in April of last year. The boy, returning home from school, was allegedly pulled into Chimboza’s room by force.
According to the prosecution’s case, Chimboza removed the boy’s clothes and instructed him to lie on the bed. When the child protested, she reportedly responded, “NDINODA KUKUITA ZVISINA KUKWANA,” which translates roughly to “I want to do things that are inappropriate with you.” She then allegedly proceeded to sexually assault him.
This pattern of abuse, the court heard, continued on multiple occasions. The matter only came to light on 19 December when the boy, speaking to his cousin, mentioned having sexual intercourse with his “girlfriend.”
His mother overheard the conversation, leading to a police report and Chimboza’s subsequent arrest. Chimboza’s Facebook profile states that she is a married woman.
