A brutal murder in Inyathi, in Matabeleland North Province, has exposed a tragic tale of jealousy, violence, and callous disregard for human life.
A 28-year-old man, Admire Dhangamandla, was savagely attacked and killed at his ex-girlfriend’s home, allegedly at the hands of his ex-girlfriend and her current lover.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday at a house in Badala Village 3, approximately 70 kilometres outside Bulawayo, has left the community reeling.
Police confirmed on Monday the arrest of Kudzai Taendesa Chitima, 24, and Fanuel Moyo, 26, in connection with the murder. The details emerging paint a grim picture of the events leading up to Dhangamandla’s death.
According to police statements on their official X handle, the violence stemmed from a confrontation between Dhangamandla and his ex-girlfriend’s new partner, Fanuel Moyo.
Dhangamandla arrived at his former girlfriend’s home, only to find her in the company of Moyo. A heated argument ensued, escalating into a violent attack.
As police reported: “Fanuel Moyo hit the victim, Admire Dhangamandla, 28, with a stone on the forehead before assaulting him with fists after a misunderstanding over Kudzai Taendesa Chitima.” The attack was swift and brutal, leaving Dhangamandla with no chance of survival.
The sheer brutality of the attack is compounded by the subsequent actions of the accused. After the assault, Dhangamandla died at the scene. Instead of seeking help or contacting authorities, Chitima and Moyo callously concealed the crime by disposing of the body.
Police stated: “The victim died on the spot and the suspects carried the body and dumped it at a bushy area near Badala Village 3.”
The callous act of disposing of the body in a secluded bushy area near the village highlights the extent of the perpetrators’ depravity and their desperate attempt to cover up their crime.
The actions of Chitima and Moyo demonstrate a complete lack of remorse and respect for human life. The incident underscores the dangers of unchecked jealousy and the devastating consequences of violence fuelled by such emotions.
The arrest of Chitima and Moyo offers a glimmer of hope for justice for Dhangamandla and his family. The investigation into the murder is ongoing, and the full extent of the circumstances surrounding the incident will hopefully be revealed during the legal proceedings.
