A deeply disturbing case involving alleged goblin marriages has unfolded in Chimanimani, exposing the devastating impact of traditional beliefs and the challenges faced by those caught in their web.
The matter came to light last Sunday when Nyasha appeared before Chief Saurombe’s court. She levelled serious accusations against her father, Kennedy Tayerwa, for his refusal to assist in resolving the situation, which she says is severely impacting her marriage and the well-being of her children. The alleged goblin marriages, she claims, are the root cause of ongoing sexual abuse within her marriage.
Nyasha detailed seven years of marital strife since her wedding in 2017, directly attributing the problems to the alleged goblin marriages. The emotional and physical toll is immense, as evidenced by her own testimony: “I can’t have sex with my husband without falling ill.”
Adding to the complexity of the situation, Nyasha revealed that multiple prophets have confirmed that both she and her husband are victims of separate goblin marriages. This suggests a deeply entrenched and intricate witchcraft practice affecting both individuals within the marriage.
Kennedy Tayerwa, however, vehemently denied his daughter’s claims in court. He attributed her difficulties to a lack of spiritual strength and the influence of unclean spirits, rejecting any suggestion of goblin marriages. His refusal to seek help from traditional healers or prophets, citing religious objections, further complicates the situation.
He expressed his frustration and concern, stating: “What I want to know is what I should do with this information she’s spread everywhere today? This is something we could have resolved as a family. Her actions are unacceptable, and I worry about how she will get the help she needs.”
Adding another layer to this already complex situation, other members of the Tayerwa family revealed that a prophet implicated both Nyasha’s grandmother and her father in orchestrating the separate goblin marriages. This revelation suggests a possible family involvement in the alleged witchcraft, raising questions about the extent of the conspiracy and the potential for internal conflict within the family.
The court proceedings took a dramatic turn when Kennedy erupted, claiming insufficient time to respond to the allegations. He proceeded to threaten Chief Saurombe and his councillors, escalating the tension within the courtroom.
Following this outburst, Kennedy and a group of family supporters stormed out of the court, accusing Chief Saurombe and his councillors of bias and vowing to take further action. This left Nyasha and her supporters visibly shaken and speechless.
In the wake of this tumultuous court session, Chief Saurombe offered advice to the Tayerwa family, urging them to seek the assistance of prophets who could potentially help Nyasha overcome the alleged affliction of the goblin marriages.
