In a deeply unsettling incident, the body of a 14-year-old boy has been discovered in Mvuma, sparking fears of a ritual murder. Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the grim discovery of the body, identified as Ronald Dehwe, which had been found in a remote area.
The shocking discovery was made last Friday by a passer-by who stumbled upon the corpse in a bushy section of Village 14 Mavise. Inspector Mahoko detailed the harrowing findings: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the discovery of the body of 14-year-old Ronald Dehwe in Mvuma.” He further explained that the body was found to have missing eyes, ears, and private parts, raising suspicions of foul play linked to ritualistic practices.
The passer-by, identified as Maxwell Mpofu, 24, from Plot 10 Palgrave in Mvuma, stumbled upon the tragic scene while searching for his goats. “One Maxwell Mpofu, aged 24 of Plot 10 Palgrave in Mvuma, who was looking for goats, discovered the body which had missing eyes, ears and private parts,” Mahoko said. The discovery has left the Mvuma community in shock, as details surrounding the boy’s death remain sparse.
Inspector Mahoko has appealed for assistance from the public, urging anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to come forward. “We encourage anyone with information in relation to the teenager’s death to report to the nearest police station,” he stated. The police are actively pursuing leads to uncover the circumstances surrounding Ronald’s death.
In a separate incident that occurred on the same day, a man from Chirumanzu lost his life in a violent confrontation over a commercial sex worker. According to Inspector Mahoko, the deceased, Casper Mhari, was drinking beer at the Madzipezano homestead in the Driefontein area when the altercation erupted.
Mhari was with Evans Shoniwa, 36, from Chaka in Chirumanzu, and the suspect, Marshal Shiri, 33, from Nyumbi 1 village in Driefontein. A dispute arose over a woman, leading to a tragic escalation. “A misunderstanding arose over a lady and Shiri grabbed a log and struck Mhari three times on the head before he fell down and became unconscious,” Mahoko explained.
After the assault, Mhari was rushed to Muonde Hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries. The police are now on the hunt for Marshal Shiri, who has gone into hiding following the incident. Mahoko confirmed that a manhunt has been launched to locate the suspect.
Both incidents have raised serious concerns within the community about safety and the underlying issues contributing to such violence. The police are urging residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities that could lead to further tragedies.
