Collins Mnangagwa, chief executive officer of indigenous mining company ZIMCN Investments, has been recognised as one of Zimbabwe’s top five young CEOs by the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network.
The award, presented at a ceremony in Harare, acknowledges ZIMCN’s significant contributions to the local mining industry, its commitment to community development, and its dedication to environmental protection.
ZIMCN, owner of the productive Radnor Gold Mine in Mutoko, Mashonaland East Province, among other ventures, has clearly impressed the judging panel. The award highlights the company’s high standards of professionalism and its positive impact on the surrounding communities. Dr Tafadzwa Matsika, executive director of the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network, emphasised the importance of such exemplary leadership within the local mining sector.
“The Zimbabwe CEO’s Network was founded in 2021 at the very height of the Covid-19 pandemic, with a view to celebrate excelling professionals and organisations and we are proud that industry players like ZIMCN Radnor Mine are making the mark through unparalleled professionalism and workmanship,” Dr Matsika stated.
He further praised Mr Mnangagwa’s engineering skills and business acumen, crediting them for ZIMCN’s growth into a leading gold producer with diversified interests across various sectors.
Mr Mnangagwa, represented at the awards ceremony by ZIMCN General Manager Mr Collins Musarurwa, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
“Our greatest motivation as a professional business entity is to contribute to economic growth, community development as well as create opportunities for locals through our community-driven and tailored investments,” he said in his acceptance remarks.
He stressed that the award serves as a powerful incentive to maintain excellence and productivity in all their endeavours.
Mr Musarurwa further elaborated on ZIMCN’s commitment to community development, stating: “We are a brand that cares and we are proud to play our part in contributing to economic growth at the same time giving back to the marginalised and less privileged under the leaving no one and no place behind mantra.”
He highlighted the company’s proactive involvement in community upliftment through initiatives such as road rehabilitation and the provision of social amenities, alongside job creation for local residents.
Mr Mnangagwa’s impressive career trajectory is noteworthy. He honed his engineering skills through extensive training in China, benefiting from seven years of mentorship in the Asian nation’s dynamic industrial landscape.
This experience has undoubtedly contributed to his success. His accomplishments extend beyond this latest accolade, having previously received awards including Young Corporate Director of the Year and Board Chairperson of the Year from the Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe (ICDZ).
