The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in the Midlands Province are appealing to the public for assistance in apprehending seven men wanted in connection with a murder that occurred in March 2022.

The brutal killing of Chrispen Ndlovu Siyamaingo, which took place near the Mainini business premises in Redcliff, Kwekwe, remains unsolved, prompting a renewed police investigation and a public plea for information.

The police spokesperson for the Midlands Province, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, detailed the circumstances surrounding the incident and the ongoing manhunt. He confirmed that the suspects are being sought for their alleged involvement in the death of Chrispen Ndlovu Siyamaingo.

“These seven men are wanted in connection with the murder of Chrispen Ndlovu Siyamaingo,” Inspector Mahoko stated.

He described the events leading up to the fatal confrontation: “He was reportedly drinking at the Mainini business premises in Redcliff with three other men. Seven men arrived, armed with sticks, spears, knives, and stones. Two groups of men clashed, leading to a fight.”

The violence quickly escalated, forcing Siyamaingo and his companions to flee for their safety.

“Siyamaingo’s group fled in different directions, fearing for their lives,” Inspector Mahoko explained.

However, the fleeing men were pursued relentlessly by their attackers.

“These men allegedly pursued Chrispen Ndlovu Siyamaingo, who was fleeing towards a nearby railway line,” he continued.

The tragic outcome of this violent confrontation was discovered on 25 March 2022.

“On March 25, 2022, at approximately 9:30 am, Chrispen Ndlovu Siyamaingo’s body was found near the railway line in Redcliff,” Inspector Mahoko confirmed.

The discovery of the body marked the culmination of a brutal attack, leaving investigators with the task of piecing together the events and bringing those responsible to justice.

The seven suspects remain at large, and their identities are partially known. Inspector Mahoko identified two of the suspects as Webster Mlauzi (26) of Village 3B, Sosombe 3 in Kwekwe, and Handsome Matambo (18) of Chief Marumisa’s area in Gokwe North. The remaining five suspects, Phatisani Ndlovu, Kenneth Sibanda, Decent Ncube, Liberty Ngwenya, and Prince Joka, remain unidentified, their addresses and ages are currently unknown to the police. This lack of complete information underscores the challenges facing the investigation officers.

Police are urging anyone with information that could assist in the apprehension of these individuals to come forward. Inspector Mahoko highlighted the importance of public cooperation in solving this case.

“Police are appealing to anyone with information about the murder to contact Detective Sergeant Chakawa on 0777 391 858 or report to any nearby police station,” he said.

He also provided alternative contact numbers for those wishing to provide information anonymously: 0542221073 or 0778 069 322.

Inspector Mahoko concluded his statement with a stern warning to those involved in criminal activity.

“People should know that crime doesn’t pay; you will be caught eventually, even if you go into hiding. We frequently receive information leading to the arrest of various criminals thanks to public tips. As police, we are concerned about the increase in murders over trivial matters, especially those involving robberies,” he emphasised.
