A pall of gloom has descended upon Mvurwi following the discovery of the body of prominent farmer, Norman Muchineripi Mutsigwa (72), two days ago.

The discovery was made at the 41-kilometre peg along the Mazowe-Centenary highway. Mr Mutsigwa was found half-dressed, with a used condom beside his body. His black Honda, registration AFF-7957, was parked nearby.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson, Inspector Milton Mundembe, confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm the case, but investigations are still ongoing, and we are suspecting foul play,” Inspector Mundembe stated.

Police reported that Mr Mutsigwa had all his belongings with him, including US$270 in his pocket. It is understood that he was returning from Plot 56 Ometh farm in Mvurwi, where he was renting.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and a full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause. The presence of the used condom adds a layer of complexity to the investigation, leading to speculation about the possibility of foul play.

The police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist with their investigations to come forward. The community is urged to remain calm and allow the police to conduct their thorough investigation without interference.

The death of Mr Mutsigwa has left a void in the Mvurwi community, where he was known and respected for his contributions to the farming sector. His family and friends are mourning his untimely death, and the community is rallying around them during this difficult time. The details surrounding his death are still emerging, and the police are working diligently to uncover the truth.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Bindura, a young man’s life ended tragically, highlighting the devastating consequences of relationship breakdown and the urgent need for mental health support. Tinotenda Willium, 20, took his own life by consuming rat poison. His tragic action followed a heated argument with his wife, Esmath Chigariro, 25, on September 17th.

During this argument, Esmath expressed her deep unhappiness with the marriage, citing Tinotenda’s infidelity as the reason for her wanting to separate. In a desperate attempt to prevent his wife from leaving, Tinotenda made a chilling statement: he vowed to commit suicide if she chose to end their relationship. This desperate plea revealed the intense emotional turmoil he was experiencing.

Sadly, a few hours later, Esmath left, leading to Tinotenda’s tragic decision. Acting Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha confirmed the incident, underlining the critical need for increased awareness and readily available support for individuals struggling with mental health issues.

Sergeant Major Chikasha issued a strong warning, urging individuals facing relationship problems to seek help and find peaceful resolutions rather than resorting to self-harm or suicide.

The police are actively promoting the importance of seeking professional help for mental health challenges and encouraging open communication within relationships.
