A pall of grief has descended upon Chegutu, Mashonaland Central province, after the discovery of two women’s bodies at Stockdale Farm on Sunday. The community is reeling from the shock of the deaths and searching for answers as they mourn the loss of Sekai Antonio, 59, and Alice Zhuwao, 54.
Sekai Antonio and Alice Zhuwao were reported missing on September 6th, sparking a desperate search by family and friends. Their lifeless bodies were found in the bushes of the farm two days later, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions.
Police investigations revealed a grim scene. Sekai’s body bore a deep cut on the head and multiple bruises, while Alice’s body, found approximately 100 metres away, also displayed a deep head wound. The brutal nature of the injuries suggests a violent struggle.
“The bodies of the victims were ferried to Chegutu Hospital mortuary for post-mortem,” said National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirming the incident.
As Chegutu residents mourns the loss of two cherished members, police are working tirelessly to unravel the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Meanwhile, a separate murder investigation is underway in Hwange, where police are seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect identified only as Usher.
On September 6th, the body of Mqondisi Sibanda, 41, was found near Chipale River in the Lusulu area. The victim had reportedly been involved in an altercation with Usher before his death. Sibanda’s body was discovered with a cut on the forehead, indicating a violent confrontation.
“The suspect and the victim had a fight over an unknown issue before the body of the victim was found lying lifeless with a cut on the forehead,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding either of these cases to come forward and report to the nearest police station.
