Nissan Caravan kombi and Freight Liner truck accident kills all passengers onboard

The tranquil Chivhu-Nyazura Road was marred by tragedy on Friday evening, 7 September, as a fatal road traffic accident claimed the lives of four people.

The accident, which occurred at the 61km peg, involved a Nissan Caravan NV350 and a Freight Liner truck, leaving a trail of grief and shock in its wake.

According to police reports, the Nissan Caravan, carrying four passengers, was travelling towards Buhera when it collided with the trailer of a Freight Liner truck that was also heading towards the same destination. The impact of the crash was devastating, resulting in the loss of all four passengers in the Nissan Caravan.

The driver of the Nissan Caravan, the sole survivor of the accident, sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention at Murambinda Mission Hospital. The bodies of the four deceased passengers were transported to the same hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

This tragic incident exposes the dangers of our roads in Zimbabwe and the importance of road safety. The Zimbabwe Republic Police is urging all motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies from occurring.

Murder Rocks Chitungwiza Community

Meanwhile, in a separate incident that occurred in Chitungwiza on the same day, a 50-year-old man, Isaac Diamond, was brutally murdered in Unit M, Seke. The incident took place around 20:30 hours on the said day.

Police investigations revealed that Diamond was on his way home after closing his shop when he was attacked by three unidentified male suspects. The assailants were armed with unknown objects when they inflicted a severe head injury on Diamond and left him unconscious.

He was rushed to Chitungwiza Central Hospital for treatment, but sadly succumbed to his injuries upon admission. The police are currently investigating the murder and are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.

The two incidents, occurring within hours of each other, highlight the growing concerns about safety and security in Zimbabwe. Police are urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
