Wedza has been rocked by another murder, with five suspects now in custody for the death of Cadilla Njodzi (37), a mental health patient. Njodzi died on Saturday after being admitted to a local hospital.
The suspects, Peter Mandeya (65), Simbarashe Mandeya (40), Felix Chigodora (24), Brain Mandeya (21) and Munashe Chigodora (25), are accused of assaulting Njodzi with switches and kicking him repeatedly.
The attack reportedly occurred on June 30th, after Njodzi damaged a wooden door and a rear mirror of a Nissan Hardbody vehicle at Peter Mandeya’s residence in Chihota village, Chief Svosve’s area.
Police are investigating the matter and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
The police are urging the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities. They are also warning people against giving lifts to strangers in their family vehicles, following a recent robbery incident.
In another criminal incident that police are investigating, a motorist was driving a Nissan Sunny vehicle lost US$2 000 cash to two suspects he had given a lift from Chegutu to Harare on Saturday last week. The incident occurred at Rera Shops area, along the Harare-Bulawayo Highway.
In a separate incident, Harare police are appealing for information that could lead to the arrest of suspects in the murder of Liberty Chinembiri (24). Chinembiri was found dead on August 27th, behind a hotel along Iford Road, Ardbennie, Waterfalls, with his body heavily bruised.
It is alleged that Chinembiri was attacked by unknown suspects while on duty with nine other security guards. He was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
The police are investigating all three cases and are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice. They are urging the public to cooperate with them in their investigations.
