The incident occurred on a day when the complainant, a Form 4 student at a local high school, visited a friend in Section 8 Triangle. As she was returning home, she was forced into a bush at knifepoint by Moyo.
Moyo, falsely claiming to be a police officer, threatened to kill the young girl if she raised an alarm. He then proceeded to undress her and rape her via “SIM 2”. Later that night, he raped her again after preparing a fire.
The following morning, the complainant teenager to leave with Moyo accompanying her home as she was unaware of her location. Their actions were witnessed by a security guard, Kudakwashe Shumba, who noticed a tense exchange between them. When questioned, Moyo fled the scene, but was later apprehended by villagers before he tried to commit suicide.
State Prosecutor Rutendo Ndibwo represented the state in the case. Moyo is set to appear in court again at a later date.
