A Zimbabwean man has been charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Gloucester, England.
Tanaka Zivanai, 32, of Dora Walk in Gloucester, was charged with the murder of 28-year-old Zanele Sibanda. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 27 August, at the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road in Tredworth, Gloucester, New Zimbabwe has reported.
Gloucestershire Police were called to the scene at around 1.45am following reports of a woman who had sustained suspected stab wounds. Sadly, Ms Sibanda was pronounced dead at the scene.
Zivanai was arrested and remanded in custody. He is expected to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 29 August.
In a statement confirming the tragedy, Gloucestershire Police said: “A man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing in Tredworth, Gloucester in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday 27 August).
“Tanaka Zivanai, aged 32 and of Dora Walk in Gloucester, has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old Zanele Sibanda.
“Police had been called to the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road at around 1.45am on Tuesday with a report that a woman had sustained suspected stab wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Ms Sibanda’s next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by family liaison officers. Zivania has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday 29 August).”
The news of Ms Sibanda’s death has also left the Zimbabwean community in the UK shattered and speechless. Some have taken to social media to express their condolences and outrage over the incident.
