Brigadier General (Rtd) Ndabambi, a prominent figure in the country’s military landscape, collapsed at his Glendale farm on Wednesday and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Bindura General Hospital. The news of his passing has left many in shock, particularly those who knew him personally.

Ndabambi’s career in the military spanned decades, with him serving as a high-ranking officer during the presidency of the late Robert Mugabe. He was a close associate of General Constantino Chiwenga, the current Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, and played a significant role in the 2017 military intervention that led to the removal of Mugabe from power.

His death comes just a month after the passing of another prominent military figure, Colonel Andrew Kabaira. Colonel Kabaira, a man of immense stature and unwavering dedication, passed away on 21 July morning at the age of 64, after a short illness.

He was receiving treatment at the ZNA 2 Referral Hospital, located within the Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks in Harare. A month before his death, Colonel Kaibaira had been reshuffled from his position as Commander Harare District, a role he held with distinction.

The passing of these two distinguished military figures, in such close proximity, has left a profound sense of loss within the nation. Their contributions to the Zimbabwe National Army and their dedication to the country will be remembered for generations to come.

The news of Brigadier General (Rtd) Ndabambi’s passing has been met with sadness and disbelief across Zimbabwe. Mourners are gathered at his farm in Glendale, where he will be laid to rest. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.

Chaminuka, a man who played a significant role during the events that led to the removal of former president Robert Mugabe while serving as General Constantine Chiwenga’s personal assistant, was declared a national hero by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and will be laid to rest today at the National Heroes Acre.
