Chitungwiza man brutally killed and dumped at grave yard

A chilling discovery was made on Tuesday in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza, as the body of an unidentified man was found near a church cemetery.

The man, believed to have been murdered, was discovered with a deep cut on his head, raising concerns about a growing wave of violent crime in the area.

The body was discovered in an open space near the cemetery, prompting an immediate investigation by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

The victim was wearing a brown t-shirt, blue jean trousers, a brown leather belt, and blue socks, but no further details about his identity were immediately available.

The discovery of the body comes amidst a growing concern about violent crime in Chitungwiza and surrounding areas. The police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in identifying the victim and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“The body has since been taken to a hospital mortuary as investigations continue. Police are appealing for information that might assist them to identify the body,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

Meanwhile, police in Kadoma are also investigating another murder case, where Egnes Mandenge (53) was found dead with multiple wounds on the head and hands at a bushy area near a primary school in Ingezi on August 19, 2024.

The circumstances surrounding Mandenge’s death are still under investigation, and the police are appealing for any information that could assist in their investigation.

The recent spate of violent crime has raised concerns about the safety and security of communities across Zimbabwe. The ZRP is urging the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.

The police are also working to increase patrols in high-crime areas and to implement strategies to combat crime.
