Sekhukhune, Limpopo: A massive manhunt is underway in the Sekhukhune District of Limpopo, with police offering a R20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Lovemore Musoyi, a Zimbabwean national wanted for a string of violent crimes.
Musoyi, believed to be around 35 years old, is considered a “most wanted suspect” by Limpopo police, with a rap sheet that includes over 10 criminal cases.
These crimes, committed in areas including Elandskraal, Motetema, Dennilton, and Rakgoadi, range from murder and attempted murder to armed robberies, house robberies, business robberies, kidnapping, assaults, stock theft, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, described Musoyi as a dangerous criminal who has terrorised communities in the Sekhukhune District. He detailed some of Musoyi’s alleged crimes, including a brazen business robbery at a tuck shop in Mafisheng village on June 20th.
“During the robbery, Musoyi viciously attacked a male victim, whom he accused of betrayal, and proceeded to assault him with an axe,” said Ledwaba.
The criminals then looted the shop, stealing both money and soft drinks before fleeing the scene.
Musoyi’s brazenness is further illustrated by his escape from a police vehicle at Moutse Mall in Dennilton on January 1st, 2023, while en route to Witbank Correctional Services. He escaped alongside two other suspects, who were subsequently re-arrested.
In another incident on February 2nd, 2024, Musoyi allegedly engaged in a violent altercation at his ex-girlfriend’s residence, shooting her brother in the mouth before fleeing with a television set.
The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has ordered a team of investigators to intensify efforts to locate and apprehend Musoyi.
She has also appealed to the public to provide any information that could lead to his arrest.
“We urge the public to work with us and come forward with any information that can help to apprehend this hard-core criminal who continues to terrorise our communities,” Hadebe said.
