A Masvingo man is currently behind bars after allegedly stabbing his sister’s boyfriend, leaving him with multiple wounds.
The suspect, identified as Mkondisi Mandava, 32, reportedly became enraged after his mukwasha, Felix Sibanda, 42, accused his sister of infidelity. According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police on X, the altercation escalated quickly.
“The suspect, Mkondisi Mandava, headbutted the victim, Felix Sibanda (42), on the forehead before stabbing him multiple times in the thighs with a knife. The altercation is said to have arisen from a dispute over the suspect’s sister, whom the victim had accused of infidelity and threatened to assault,” the police statement read.
The incident highlights a disturbing trend of violence stemming from relationship issues, particularly infidelity. The accused brother-in-law’s actions, fuelled by a sense of loyalty and perhaps a desire to protect his sister’s reputation, have resulted in serious harm to the victim.
The police statement revealed that Sibanda had accused Mandava’s sister of engaging in sexual relationships with other men, a claim that sparked the heated confrontation. The precise nature of the relationship between the sister and Sibanda, as well as the extent of the infidelity allegations, remain unclear.
The case is currently being investigated by the police in Masvingo and Mandava is facing charges of attempted murder.
