Harare – Infamous self-styled Warren Park D apostolic sect leader, Madzibaba Jukwa, is in serious trouble with the law after being charged with a slew of offences including assaulting police officers and theft of trust property.

There was drama at Masowe when the flamboyant 31-year-old Madzibaba Jukwa was arrested. When police officers tried to arrest him, they met stiff resistance, forcing the cops to call for police backup.

For his offences, Madzibaba Jukwa, who drives a flashy Toyota GD6, was arraigned at the Mbare Magistrates Court before Magistrate Ms Winnet Joni, where he begged for mercy and attempted to charm the magistrate at the same time by exposing both his bribery expertise and generosity.

The man of God told the court that he had paid US$50 to the police officers so that they could not arrest him, but was surprised to see the law-enforcement agents proceeding to arrest him despite paying his ‘$50 corruption fee’.

“Ndakapa mapurisa mari saka handizivi kuti vakazouyasei vakundizvuzvurudza pakereke pazere vanhu ndikasiya ndakapaka GD6 yangu. Hapana asingandizive Highfield yese kuti ndinonzi Madzbaba Jukwa, ndinomwaya mari kuvanhu. Ndirerutsireiwo nditongwe ndichibva kumba nekuti ndine mwana ane makore matatu wandinogara naye,” said Madzibaba Jukwa, pleading for bail.

Madzibaba Jukwa faces a slew of serious charges including assaulting one Farai Madondo with an iron bar and stealing US$220 from him. The rich apostolic sect leader is also accused of bashing Natasha Chingwena and Collen Ben. As if that is not enough, Madzibaba Jukwa is also accused of violating an agreement with Chiedza Munyadzi.

The state, represented by Idrisa Mupandarekwa, alleged that the accused was given US$300 by Chiedza Munyadzi to purchase a refrigerator, which he never bought.

Despite his claims of being known by every Highfield resident for dishing out cash, the State argued that Madzibaba Jukwa was not suitable for bail, citing the seriousness of the charges he is facing.

Magistrate Joni remanded him in custody until tomorrow.
