Tragic lapse at Harare railway crossing leads to fatal accident
In a devastating turn of events, a road traffic accident at a railway level crossing in Harare has claimed the life of one individual and left several others injured. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 25th, 2024, at the intersection of Paisley Road and Lyton Road.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), an AVM bus carrying 66 passengers was struck by a train after the bus driver failed to stop at the railway crossing. The tragic collision resulted in the death of one person on the spot, while seven others sustained injuries.
The accident has once again underscored the need for heightened awareness and vigilance among both drivers and pedestrians when navigating railway crossings. The ZRP has reiterated its call for all road users to exercise extreme caution and adhere to the established safety protocols to protect themselves and others.
