In a harrowing incident in the early hours of June 25th, 2024, an Inter Africa bus caught fire along the Mutare-Masvingo Road.
According to the ZRP, the incident occurred at around 4:45 AM at the 11-kilometer peg along the busy highway. The bus, which was stationary at the time, had begun to emit smoke from the driver’s compartment, quickly escalating into a full-blown fire.
Despite the alarming situation, the 40 passengers on board were able to evacuate the vehicle safely, with no reported injuries. The ZRP commended the swift action taken by the bus crew, who immediately alerted the authorities and ensured the safe disembarkation of all passengers.
