Hotel receptionist fined for indecent act with minor
In a concerning incident, a hotel receptionist in Norton, Zimbabwe has been convicted and fined for engaging in an indecent act with a minor.
Godknows Sakatiro, who is employed at a hotel in Norton, was arraigned before the Norton Magistrates’ Court after he was accused of performing an indecent act with a 17-year-old secondary school student.
The incident occurred on May 7, 2024, when the teenager was attending a workshop at the hotel where Sakatiro works. According to the court proceedings, the receptionist went to the complainant’s room, told her she was beautiful, and then proceeded to kiss her.
The teenage victim immediately reported the incident to the authorities, leading to Sakatiro’s arrest.
In its ruling, the Norton Magistrates’ Court ordered Sakatiro to pay a fine of $200 USD. Additionally, he was given a suspended 4-month sentence.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing outrage over the violation of trust and the exploitation of a minor by an individual in a position of authority.
