A man from Nkenyane village in Matabeleland North province is in hot water after being charged with indecent assault. Kholwani Dube is accused of fondling his neighbor’s two teenage daughters, aged 17 and 16.
Dube appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Racheal Muzanga and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the allegations, on March 12, 2021, at around 10 am, the first victim was on her way back from fetching water when she met Dube, who allegedly f0ndled her brǝɑsts. The victim reported the matter to her uncle, and the following day, her sister was on her way from the well when she also met Dube, who reportedly put his hand inside her shirt and f0ndled her brǝɑsts. The second victim also reported the matter to her uncle, who then reported it to the police, leading to Dube’s arrest.
During the trial, Dube denied ever meeting the first victim and claimed that he only remembered meeting the second one. He said that when he met the girls, they were pushing a wheelbarrow, and he joked with them, saying they were lazy and wouldn’t get married. However, he claimed that the victims responded rudely, which angered him. Dube said that he never f0ndled the second victim’s brǝɑsts, as she is claiming.
The trial was adjourned, and Dube was remanded out of custody until July 13 when the trial will continue. The incident has left the community in sh0ck, and many are calling for justice to be served.
