A raunchy dancer, Kim, leader of the Spicy Angels dance group, has been sentenced to four months imprisonment for a shocking act of public indecency at Choggs Bar in Epworth.
The incident, which occurred last weekend, involved Kim engaging in oral sex with a male patron on stage, a spectacle captured on video and widely circulated online.
Following the incident, Kim was summoned for questioning by the police. However, she initially evaded arrest, falsely claiming she would hand herself in. This deception only prolonged the inevitable, as the long arm of the law eventually caught up with her last weekend.
She appeared before an Epworth magistrate, where she was convicted of public indecency. The magistrate initially sentenced her to six months imprisonment, but suspended two months on condition of good behaviour, resulting in a four-month jail term.
The Dancers Association of Zimbabwe (DAZ) swiftly condemned Kim’s actions, describing her behaviour as “unacceptable”. DAZ president, Harpers Mapimhidze, stated: “Hazviite zvaakaita zviye and that is public indecency and we condemn such acts in public. She should just do her job of dancing not to strip fans and have sex with them on stage.”
Mapimhidze further criticised Kim’s subsequent attempt to evade police questioning: “She was summoned to the police and lied that she was going to hand herself over but she has been evasive since the day she was called by the police.”
The DAZ launched an investigation into the incident and subsequently revoked Kim’s licence. Mapimhidze confirmed this action, stating: “I am sure police are going to do their job and arrest such individuals. We are also going to investigate this case and revoke her licence.”
He emphasised the association’s zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour, stating: “we don’t allow such kind of behaviour and as an organisation, we are against such acts. That is embarrassing, vana vanodzidzei, we condemn that as an association.”
Mapimhidze also revealed that Kim is the founder and a registered member of the Spicy Angels dance group. He commented on the incident, saying: “She is the founder of the group and she is our member and she is registered. I am sure, she was just overzealous, kuda kufadza maclients, this is not the first time.”
This admission suggests a potential pattern of inappropriate behaviour, raising concerns about oversight within the dance group and the DAZ itself.
The incident has drawn parallels, albeit with vastly different contexts, to the infamous sex tape scandal involving Kim Kardashian in 2007. While Kardashian’s case involved a private act that was later leaked, Kim’s actions were a deliberate public display. The contrast highlights the stark difference between a private citizen and a professional performer with a responsibility to uphold standards of decency.
