Musician Baba Harare, now known as King David, has opened up about his transformative journey from a life filled with sin to one of spiritual enlightenment. Speaking to H-Metro at an event held at the Eat n Lick food outlet in Machipisa, Highfield, King David shared his reflections on a past he now considers a “desert of sin disguised as paradise.”
“I regret singing dirty words when I had not yet received the light from our Lord and Saviour,” he confessed.
The artist, who was once celebrated for his jiti music, has shifted his focus entirely to gospel, leaving behind the controversial lyrics that once made him a household name.
King David’s previous songs, which he now labels as “dirty,” catapulted him to fame within the local music scene. However, he has since renounced that chapter of his life, stating that he has found a new purpose in sharing positive messages through his music.
“It was a time of darkness for me and the messages were good,” he added, reflecting on the allure of his former lifestyle.

“At least he has seen the light and we commend him and we commend his wife for helping him give his life to God,” one guest remarked.
