South Africa’s music scene has witnessed a dramatic reconciliation, as Babes Wodumo and Makhadzi have officially ended their highly publicised feud.

What began as a public spat in 2022, captivating the nation and igniting a social media firestorm, has concluded with a surprising collaboration and a declaration of peace.

The initial conflict erupted when Babes Wodumo publicly accused Makhadzi of pursuing her late husband, Mampintsha. Wodumo’s accusations, delivered with characteristic outspokenness, included allegations of a romantic relationship between Makhadzi and Mampintsha.

These claims were shared publicly, sparking intense debate and dividing fans on social media. The incident became a national conversation, with many South Africans following the unfolding drama with keen interest.

In a video that quickly went viral, Babes Wodumo levelled serious accusations against Makhadzi, stating that Makhadzi was “chasing after” her husband and even claiming that Makhadzi had a romantic fling with him. The video, which trended heavily on Twitter, showcased Babes Wodumo’s anger and frustration.

Makhadzi responded swiftly to the accusations via Twitter, rejecting Wodumo’s claims and suggesting that Mampintsha would not have been interested in her. This rebuttal, however, only escalated the conflict, leaving fans wondering if the two artists could ever reconcile or even share a stage again. The war of words intensified, fueling speculation and further dividing their fan bases.

The unexpected turn came last week, when Babes Wodumo publicly endorsed Makhadzi’s latest album on social media. More surprisingly, she revealed that she is featured on one of the album’s tracks.

Accompanying her post, Wodumo shared a powerful message: “There is nothing more important than forgiveness, especially when we’re women.”

This statement hinted at a significant shift in their relationship, suggesting a willingness to move past the conflict.

Maphuti “Perez” Mothapo, Makhadzi’s manager, confirmed the reconciliation to TshisaLIVE, stating that the two artists are now on good terms. Mothapo provided further details about their collaboration, explaining the process of creating the song and music video.

He stated: “Babes Wodumo is featured Not Available. Makhadzi went to Babes Wodumo’s home in Durban and they recorded the song. Babes came to Johannesburg to shoot the music video. All I know is they worked well together on the song and it’s a hit.”

This statement confirms not only their reconciliation but also their professional collaboration, indicating a willingness to work together despite past disagreements.
