Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, better known as Medikal, has sparked controversy after making a shocking confession about his sexual practices.

During an appearance on the ‘Rants, Bants And Confession’ podcast, the hip-hop star revealed that he prefers unprotected sex, claiming that using condoms is “like masturbating.”

“I like to have raw sex. I don’t like condoms. Using condoms is like masturbating,” he stated, leaving listeners stunned and raising eyebrows across the continent.

Medikal’s controversial statement has ignited a heated debate about responsible sexual practices and the importance of safe sex. His comments have been met with widespread criticism, with many condemning his disregard for sexual health and the potential risks associated with unprotected sex.

Experts have expressed concern over Medikal’s remarks, highlighting the dangers of unprotected sex, including the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies. They have urged individuals to prioritize their sexual health and engage in safe sexual practices to protect themselves and their partners.

Medikal, born to Portia Lamptey and James Frimpong in Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra, has enjoyed a successful career in the Ghanaian music industry. He married movie star Fella Makafui in 2020, but the couple announced their divorce in May 2024.

The rapper’s confession has raised questions about his personal views on sexual health and the potential influence he may have on his young fans.

Many have expressed concern that his comments could encourage risky sexual behaviour among his followers, particularly young people who may be more susceptible to peer pressure and the allure of celebrity influence.
