The popular Zimbabwean YouTube channel, The Closure DNA Show, hosted by Tinashe Mugabe, has been hacked and deleted. The channel, known for its compelling DNA testing videos, is now offline, leaving fans and viewers in shock.

The channel’s URL now displays an error 404 page, while attempts to access previously uploaded videos are met with a message stating that the account associated with the video has been terminated. This confirms that Google, the owners of YouTube, have begun the process of reclaiming the channel from the hackers.

The channel, which was “stolen” by individuals seeking to push crypto content or scams, was last seen displaying cryptocurrency-related content before being taken down.

The Closure DNA Show team confirmed the hacking incident on their other social media platforms, posting a message to their “Bota Family” assuring them that they are working on recovering the channel.

“To the Bota Family. Please note that our YouTube channel got hacked. We will notify you once a recovery has been done. Much Love,” reads the statement.

The channel’s abrupt disappearance and the error message stating “This page isn’t available. Sorry about that. Try searching for something else,” suggest that Google is actively working to reclaim the channel. This action likely stems from the channel’s recent display of cryptocurrency-related content, which may have violated YouTube’s terms of service.

Tinashe Mugabe, a prominent Zimbabwean radio and television personality, is the principal consultant at Global DNA Zimbabwe, a company he co-founded with Dr Enock Sithole and Mr Trust Maanda.

The company offers a range of DNA testing services, including paternity testing. According to their website, Global DNA Zimbabwe offers all DNA tests and they take 5 to 7 days to finalize the tests. Global DNA also offers quick, easy, and affordable DNA paternity.

How Hackers Steal YouTube Channels

Hackers employ various tactics to gain control of YouTube channels. One common method involves phishing, where hackers send fake emails or messages that appear to be from legitimate sources, such as YouTube or Google. These messages often contain malicious links that, when clicked, allow hackers to steal login credentials. Another tactic is brute-force attacks, where hackers use automated software to try different password combinations until they gain access to an account.

It is possible that Tinashe Mugabe’s YouTube channel was compromised through one of these methods. Hackers could have gained access to his Google account, which is linked to his YouTube channel, allowing them to take control of his channel and delete its content.

Recovering a Hacked YouTube Channel

The process of recovering a hacked YouTube channel can be challenging, but it is not impossible. The first step is to contact YouTube support and report the hacking incident. YouTube will then investigate the situation and may take steps to recover the channel.

Owners of hacked YouTube channels can also try to recover their accounts by resetting their passwords. However, if hackers have changed the email address associated with the account, this may not be possible. In such cases, it may be necessary to provide proof of ownership to YouTube, such as a government-issued ID or a screenshot of the account’s original email address.

Safeguarding Social Media Accounts

To prevent your social media accounts from being hacked, it is essential to practice good online security hygiene. This includes using strong and unique passwords for each account, enabling two-factor authentication, and being wary of suspicious emails and messages. It is also important to keep your software and operating systems updated to protect against known vulnerabilities.

The closure of The Closure DNA Show leaves a void in the Zimbabwean online landscape. Fans are eager to see the channel restored and are hoping that Tinashe Mugabe will be able to regain control of his account.
