The Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) has stated that Zimbabwe is not ready for the upcoming elections, which are scheduled in less than two months, and has referred to President Emmerson Mnangagwa as a “loser”.
The CCC President, Nelson Chamisa, who leads the largest opposition party, has appealed to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to facilitate free and fair elections. Mnangagwa has told his supporters that ZANU-PF will not relinquish power and is “unstoppable”.
CCC has accused ZANU-PF of trying to discourage their members from voting. The CCC spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere, said the party plans to launch its campaign this week and has fielded many new parliamentary and local government candidates.
Chamisa said citizens should ignore such attempts and choose “change, credibility” by voting in the upcoming elections.
