Bishop Washington Mugodhi, the leader of the Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church, has urged congregants to vote for President Mnangagwa and the ruling party Zanu PF in the upcoming harmonised elections on August 23.
Bishop Mugodhi made the announcement during a provincial Pentecostal gathering in Gokwe, where he encouraged the congregants to work with traditional community leaders to mobilize more people to support the ruling party and its leader.
The Bishop also reminded church members who are in charge of government projects to honor their mandate and avoid abusing agricultural inputs or any other state resources intended for nation building. The provincial Pentecostal gathering was attended by about 70 assemblies under the Mugodhi Apostolic Faith Church from the Midlands.
Zanu PF Vice Chairperson for Midlands, Edson Chiherenge Chakanyuka, expressed his satisfaction with the role played by the church in interceding for peace during an election. He urged the church community to take a leading role in praying for peaceful elections, as it speeds up development.
Chief Nemangwe, who was also present at the gathering, expressed his gratitude towards President Mnangagwa for ensuring his installation as Chief Nemangwe after years of waiting. He urged the church to intensify efforts towards safeguarding national interests by rallying behind Zanu PF at all levels.
The gathering was a success, with traditional leaders, church leaders, and Zanu PF officials coming together to discuss national development and the importance of peaceful elections.
