A Zimbabwean businessman named Wicknell Chivayo recently purchased a fleet of luxury vehicles worth over US$3.5 million. He explains that he spent three years praying hard for these lavish cars that he now owns.
Chivayo is a member of an apostolic church called Johanne Masowe eChishanu. He points to himself as an example of how God answers prayers. He recently bought several Rolls Royce and Mercedes-Benz models in quick succession, including a Rolls Royce Phantom, Ghost and Cullinan as well as a Mercedes Benz S500, Range Rover and Maybach.
Chivayo says he shelled out over US$3.5 million for this collection of cars within a short timeframe. This comes after he purchased vehicles costing over US$100,000 for his church leader and wife.
Speaking to the media, Chivayo said people used to associate members of his church with poverty, but things have changed now. He claims God has blessed his church members and they are now among the richest people.
When Chivayo flaunted his luxury cars on social media, he received mixed reactions. Some accused him of wasting money obtained illegally from a solar project deal, though courts dismissed those charges.
Chivayo explained that he simply loves cars, and they are the product of nights he spent praying and fasting in the mountains. He apologized for buying so many cars at once but says they are dreams he chased hard for over 3 years. He credits God for answering his prayers, claiming “US$3.5 million was well spent on my luxury fleet.”
